Thank you to Katia Desz for stepping up with out next hike, City View, in Waterdown. The hike will be of level 2 difficulty, and it will run around fourteen kilometres.

Our next hike is Bolton Heritage Trail led by Bohdan Bilyj. This hike is of level 2 difficulty, but it will go twenty kilometres.

We have just sorted out some website issues, and it is back up. If only COVID‑19 was so easy to manage. Toronto continues to be heavily locked down, so we do not have a spring hiking season.

Our 2020 Season has been a complete washout, due of course, to the COVID‑19 Pandemic. The odds are against us running a spring season. Hopefully, things will improve in the fall. We will keep you posted.

Toronto is moving to COVID‑10 Stage 3. We are looking to cautiously resume hiking in the fall.

We hope everyone is staying healty. There is now not much chance of a spring 2020 hiking season. Let's hope we can get things going in the fall.
Monday March 23
We are getting ready to plan our new season. Unfortunately, with COVID-19, many of our parks and trails are closed. We all are being advised to distance ourselves from each other to prevent the rapid spread of the disease. This rules out carpooling, among other things. High Park Hiking Club's Spring 2020 season is on hold until further notice. We will keep you posted.

We are starting to get ready for our new season. We will have a schedule and membership forms up soon.
Saturday November 23
Sunday will be our last hike of Fall 2019. We are doing Grindstone Falls with hike leader Carol Pyke. We pick up at our usual 10:00am at Yonge and York Mills. Thank you hike leaders and hikers for making this all worthwhile. We will be back next season.

Our penultimate hike of the season is Sunday, at Hilton Falls with hike leader Mo Penton. We do our usual 10:00am pickup at Yonge and York Mills. It will be cold this weekend, so dress warmly, and wear hiking boots with good treads.

On Sunday, we are running our last scheduled hike of the season, Hockley Valley with Andrea Moses. It is summer now, and you should stay hydrated with lots of water. We pick up at our standard time of 10:00am.

Sunday is Singhampton Caves with Andy Hueton. This hike is not particularly long, but it is technically difficult. You need good, sturdy hiking boots, and probably, ice cleats. The pick-up at Old York Mills Road, is early, at 9:00am.

This is on the south of Bloor, a couple of blocks west of the Dundas subway.

Sunday's Seven Waterfalls hike is on! We have checked out the parking lots at each end of the hike, and we have updated the instructions. Both parking lots are fairly small, and we will be charged for using them. Definitely, this is a day for car pooling.

Spring is on us faster that us ski types planned on. We are starting work on our schedule. We are not planning any official hikes prior to April, but there could be some unofficial ones to scout out trails. If you are determined to hike, and you do not mind the hike leader being lost and confused, email Howard Gibson and I will see what I can do about it.
Friday December 2
The weather reports for Sunday mostly indicate rain. We have decided to cancel Sunday's hike to Dundas Valley. This concludes our 2011 hiking season. Hopefully, we will see you all next spring. If it does not snow or rain over the next few weeks, leave us a message and perhaps we can work something out.

A few determined hikers showed in the rain for Scotsdale Farm last week. Let's hope the weather improves this time. We are coming to our final hike of 2011. We are going to Dundas Valley with Bob Freeman.

Sunday's hike still is to Scotsdale Farm with Deborah McDermott, and we are still picking up at Yonge and York Mills, Apparently, someone asked hike leader Jacquie Johnson about birds at Rouge River. Someone runs an event called Hoot and Howl in which they search for owls and coyotes at night. You can search Google for more dates, and for contact information.

We are filling some critical parts of our fall schedule, including next Sunday's hike. Jackie Johnson will take us hiking through Rouge Valley. This is a new, more challenging route than what we have done before. We should have November 27 filled in in a day or two.

Our spring hiking is over. Our next official event is Petroglyphs on August 15. Meanwhile, I plan on exploring a couple of new hikes. I plan to take the coming July 1 weekend off. As of 8:30pm this evening, it is raining. It has been raining most of the day. Gerry Dombrowe and I have discusse this, and we have decided that it is too wet to hike safety on the escarpment. Our Sunday May 15 hike to Rattlesnake Point is canceled. Hopefully, we will get better weather next week.

This coming Thursday, April 21 is Fun In The Sun Night, held by the High Park Ski Club's at the Lithuanian Hall at 1573 Bloor Street West. This is on the south side of the street, a couple of blocks west of the Dundas West subway station. Since this is Easter weekend, a lot of people will be busy on Sunday. We will hike Saturday, to Alton Grange with hike leader Howard Gibson.

This Saturday is the Hiking Biking party we share with Toronto High Park Bicycle Club. We hope to see you at the Rose and Crown, 2335 Yonge Street at 8:00pm. We even have a live rock band. Sunday's hike is to Pretty River with Andrea Moses. This is a long drive, but the fall colours should be starting out up there. You do not want to miss it. The area is very hilly, but the pace will be gentle, suitable for the day after a party. We are contining to pick up at Yonge and York Mills.

We recommend everybody shows up at Yonge and York Mills. We will then decide what to do based on the latest information. We have been very lucky so far this season, running hikes in threatening weather.

Five hardy hikers showed up at Yonge and York Mills. We decided to hike. We hiked, and it did not rain! We have a destination and a leader for next Sunday. It is Durham Forest, and our hike leader is Cathy MacDougall.

Saturday's hike to Hoggs and Eugenia Falls, is tentatively canceled due to the predicted thunderstorms. A couple of us will show up at Yonge and York Mills just in case the weather improves. At this time, we strongly recommend not driving straight up to the hike.

In spite of the nasty weather forecasts last week, we had a bunch of hikers out for Kilgorie Pine River. There was not a drop of rain. This week, we are hiking at Speyside with Ian Tytler. The weather reports are not promising, so bring something waterproof. These things work out.

We are getting ready for High Park Ski Club's Fun In The Summer Night. The event will be held at the Lithuanian Hall, at 1573 Bloor Street West, on Thursday night, April 15. We will be there along with a whole bunch of other clubs, so sign up members and hand out schedules.
