Thursday November 2: We are hiking Saturday to Jordan and Ball's Falls with Jennifer Rowbotham. This is the one we cancelled a few weeks ago. Let's hope the weather cooperates this time.
Thursday October 26: Our next hike is to Long Sault with Howard Gibson.
Thursday October 19: On Sunday, we hike Scotsdale Farm with leader Katia Desz. We have rescheduled Jordan and Ball's Falls for Saturday November 4^th.
Friday October 13: Unfortunately, we have cancelled our hike for Saturday October 14.
Thursday October 12: We are having problems with Saturday's hike to Jordan and Ball's Falls. We have not yet cancelled it, but watch this space. We will update this website and Meetup, by 9:00pm Friday evening.
Thursday October 5: On this coming Sunday, we hike Glen Haffy with hike leader Katia Desz. The weather is not promising. Bring your rain kit.
Thursday September 21: It did not rain last Sunday, and we had a lovely hike at Alton Grange. The weather is iffy for this Sunday, but we will keep watching it. We are going to Bolton Heritage Trail with hike leader Bohdan Bilyj.
Thursday September 14: We are a little late starting on our schedule, but we have a hike Sunday, to Alton Grange with Howard Gibson.
Thursday June 22: Sunday will be our last hike for Spring 2023, Two Waterfalls in Stoney Creek, led by Katia Desz.
Thursday June 15: We have a hike for Sunday, Glen Haffy led by Howard Gibson. We have a hike for next week too, as you will see from our schedule. We have not yet written out the details.
Wednesday June 6: Our upcoming hike is on Saturday June 10. We are doing Niagara Gorge (USA) with Bill Baird. This is on the American side of the river so you need your passport! Also, we meet at Old York Mills Road, at 9:00am, not our usual 10:00am. It will be a long drive.
Thursday June 1: Our next hike is to Seaton Trail, led by Katia Desz.
Thursday May 25: On Sunday, we hike Long Sault, up north of Bowmanville, with hike leader Howard Gibson.
Saturday May 20: Katia Desz has stepped in to lead at hike Sunday to Happy Valley on the Oak Ridge Trail. We have juggled hikes a bit. Next week, we do Long Sault, north of Bowmanville.
Wednesday May 10: Sunday is Mother's Day, so we are hiking on Saturday! The destination is Dundas Valley. The hike leader is Katia Desz.
Saturday May 6: Sunday's hike is to Jordan and Ball's Falls led by Jennifer Rowbotham. We are looking forward to very nice weather.
Thursday April 27: Hopefully, the weather will cooperate when we hike Albion Hills with Boydan Bilyj. It has been a long time since we have hiked here.
Tuesday April 18: We had a sunny day and twenty three people out last Sunday. Next Sunday is Alton Grange and the art gallery in Alton Mill. The hike will be led by Howard Gibson.
Thursday April 6: We are working on the Spring 2023 Schedule. We will start April 16 at Scarborough Bluffs Lake Ontario with hike leader Bill Baird.
Thursday November 3: On Saturday night, turn your clocks forward. We are back to Eastern Standard time. Sunday, we are hiking Alton Grange.
Thursday October 27: Thank you to Katia Desz for stepping up with out next hike, City View, in Waterdown. The hike will be of level 2 difficulty, and it will run around fourteen kilometres.
Wednesday October 19: Our next hike is Bolton Heritage Trail led by Bohdan Bilyj. This hike is of level 2 difficulty, but it will go twenty kilometres.
Wednesday October 12: This weekend, we will be hiking the Oak Ridge Trail at Happy Valley, with hike leader Katia Desz. Keep checking this space in case we update instructions.
Sunday October 2: The hike is on next Sunday, as long as the weather cooperates. The Meetup page is now online, and linked to our Crothers Woods notes.
Tuesday September 27: Finally, we have a hike planned for October 9. Crothers Woods will be a nice, gentle way to resume hiking. We are looking for new hikes and hike leaders. We need to set up Meetup again.
Sunday September 11: We need to hike dammit! Keep watching this space.
Sunday January 30: We hike this coming spring. Fingers crossed!
Wednesday August 25: We are looking into hiking this fall. Please read our notes on Pandemic Hiking, and keep an eye on this spot!
Tuesday March 30: We have just sorted out some website issues, and it is back up. If only COVID‑19 was so easy to manage. Toronto continues to be heavily locked down, so we do not have a spring hiking season.
Sunday January 31: Our 2020 Season has been a complete washout, due of course, to the COVID‑19 Pandemic. The odds are against us running a spring season. Hopefully, things will improve in the fall. We will keep you posted.
Thursday September 10: Toronto is moving to COVID‑10 Stage 3. We are looking to cautiously resume hiking in the fall.
Friday June 19: We hope everyone is staying healty. There is now not much chance of a spring 2020 hiking season. Let's hope we can get things going in the fall.
Monday March 23: We are getting ready to plan our new season. Unfortunately, with COVID-19, many of our parks and trails are closed. We all are being advised to distance ourselves from each other to prevent the rapid spread of the disease. This rules out carpooling, among other things. High Park Hiking Club's Spring 2020 season is on hold until further notice. We will keep you posted.
Sunday March 15: We are starting to get ready for our new season. We will have a schedule and membership forms up soon.
Saturday November 23: Sunday will be our last hike of Fall 2019. We are doing Grindstone Falls with hike leader Carol Pyke. We pick up at our usual 10:00am at Yonge and York Mills. Thank you hike leaders and hikers for making this all worthwhile. We will be back next season.
Friday November 15: Our penultimate hike of the season is Sunday, at Hilton Falls with hike leader Mo Penton. We do our usual 10:00am pickup at Yonge and York Mills. It will be cold this weekend, so dress warmly, and wear hiking boots with good treads.
Friday November 8: Sunday's hike is Bolton Heritage Trail led by Bohdan Bilyj. We carpool from Yonge and York Mills. at 10:00am.
Friday November 1: This Sunday, we hike Rouge Valley with Abi Yousufi, carpooling from Yonge and York Mills. at 10:00am.
Saturday October 26: Sunday's hike is to Clappison's Corners/Borers Falls with hike leader Carole Pyke. We are watching the weather. It is supposed to rain overnight, and showers are expected tomorrow. Bring GoreTex and/or your other rain stuff. We carpool at 10:00am from at Yonge and York Mills.
Thursday October 17: We have swapped hikes between this weekend and next weekend. This Sunday's hike is to Rattlesnake Point led by Debbie McDermott. We will do Clapsons corners/Borers Falls next weekend. We carpool at 10:00am from at Yonge and York Mills.
Friday October 11: We hike Sunday at Forks of the Credit with leader Jennifer Rowbotham. We carpool from at Yonge and York Mills.
Thursday October 3: Sunday's hike is to Primrose Boyne River with hike leader Andy Hueton. We meet to carpool at at Yonge and York Mills. Please let's carpool. The parking at the trailhead is tiny.
Thursday September 26: More hiking fun on Sunday! This time it is Long Sault with hike leader Howard Gibson. We meet for car pooling at 10:00am at at Yonge and York Mills.
Friday September 20: We are back to hiking on Sunday! This Sunday is Kelso with Mo Penton. We are also back to our regular pick time of 10:00am at Yonge and York Mills.
Wednesday September 11: This coming Saturday is our hike to Singhampton Caves with hike leader Andy Hueton. This is a Level 3 hike with some rock scrambing. At least the ice has melted. :) We depart from Old York Mills Road at 9:00am.
Saturday June 29: On Sunday, we are running our last scheduled hike of the season, Hockley Valley with Andrea Moses. It is summer now, and you should stay hydrated with lots of water. We pick up at our standard time of 10:00am.
Friday June 21: Sunday is Singhampton Caves with Andy Hueton. This hike is not particularly long, but it is technically difficult. You need good, sturdy hiking boots, and probably, ice cleats. The pick-up at Old York Mills Road, is early, at 9:00am.
Friday June 14: Our next hike is Sunday at Primrose Boyne River with Jennier Rowbotham. We are watching the weather. Check this web page out Saturday evening for possible updates. If all goes well, we pick up at Old York Mills Road, at 10:00am.
Thursday June 6: This Sunday's hike is to Forks of the Credit. Hike leader Howard Gibson has stepped forward to lead this. We are doing our standard 10:00am pickup at Old York Mills Road.
Thursday May 29: This Sunday's hike will be shortened a but, down to sixteen kilometers. Hike leader Andrea Moses is leading us at Seaton Trail. We are doing our standard 10:00am pickup at Old York Mills Road.
Friday May 24: We are hiking in the city this Sunday, Rouge Valley with Abi Yousufi. We are doing our standard 10:00am pickup at Old York Mills Road.
Saturday May 18: On Sunday, we are doing Rattlesnake Point with Debbie McDermott. We are doing our standard 10:00am pickup at Old York Mills Road. The hike at Rattlesnake Point starts at the lower parking lot this time.
Friday May 10: This weekend's hike is to Bolton with hike leader Bohdan Bilyj. This hike probably will go twenty kilometres, so you need to be in fairly good shape. We will do our standard 10:00am car pool at Old York Mills Road.
Friday May 3: Sunday's hike is to Waterdown, and the hike leader is Carol Pyke. We have a hike for next weekend! This Sunday, we do our standard carpool at 10:00am at Old York Mills Road.
Thursday April 25: This Saturday we are headed to Niagara Gorge USA with Bill Baird. You need your passport for this! We meet at Old York Mills Road, at 9:00am this time, due to the long drive.
Friday afternoon April 19: We are switching Saturdays hike to Webster's Falls to Sunday. This should give us nice hiking weather.

Tuesday February 19: Sad news. An old club member, Jim Thomas, passed away last January. Jim used to set up our schedule. He led lots of our hikes. He was active in High Park Ski Club and in the Toronto Bike Club. Obituary in the Toronto Star

Thursday November 1: On Sunder, we are hiking the Humber Valley Heritage Trail in Bolton with Bohdan Bilyj. We pick up at Old York Mills Road at our standard time of 10:00am.
Wednesday October 24: We are hiking at Singhampton Caves with Andy Hueton. This is a Level 3 hike, with lots of rock scrambling in the caves. It is cold, and there is snow on the ground up there. It is time for your winter tires. Be ready to dress for winter. We pick up early at 9:00am at Old York Mills Road.
Wednesday October 17: We have a hike destination for next Sunday, Rouge Valley with hike leader Jacquie Johnson. Jacquie is planning to do twenty kilometres, so you need to be fairly fit for this one. We pick up at 10:00am at Old York Mills Road.
Thursday October 11: This weather this coming weekend is way more promising than it was last weekend. We are doing Hockley Valley with Robert Freeman. We are back to hiking on Sunday, and to our standard Old York Mills Road pick up time of 10:00am.
Friday afternoon October 5: Our Niagara Gorge (USA) hike is cancelled, due to the predicted thunderstorms tomorrow.
Friday morning October 5: We are watching the weather for tomorrow, Saturday. Thunderstorms are a possibility, and we may have to cancel Niagara Gorge (USA). Please check this space, and our Meetup for our final decision. We will decide at 5:00pm.
Tuesday October 2: Our hike for Thanksgiving weekend will be on Saturday. Hike leader Bill Baird is taking us to Niagara Gorge (USA). On Saturday morning, we depart Old York Mills Road, early at 9:00am. We are crossing the border, so you need your passport. You will not get across the border without it.
Thursday September 27: This weekend's hike is on Saturday, to Kelso with Mo Penton. Other than it being on Saturday, this is our standard 10:00am pickup at Old York Mills Road,
Wednesday September 19: Out hike this Sunday is Primrose Boyne River with veteran hike leader Andy Hueton. There is very limited parking at the trail head. Carpooling at 10:00am at Yonge and York Mills is strongly recommended.
Wednesday September 5: Hiking season, and hopefully, cooler weather is upon us. We are trying to fill the schedule. We have the first two weeks worked out. This Sunday, we will start at Long Sault with hike leader Howard Gibson.
Wednesday July 18: On Saturday, we are doing Niagara Gorge followed by a wine tour. We are watching the weather for Saturday. Hikers, please watch this space Friday night, and/or watch the Meetup page for any changes in plan.

Thursday night April 19: Our hike leader has pre-hiked the trails for Sunday. Not suprisingly, they are muddy and treacherous. We expect them to be in bad shape on Sunday. It will not be safe, and it will be bad for the trails. Regretfully, we must cancel the hike. Perhaps we can set up a city walk! Keep checking this website.
Saturday night April 14: We are watching the weather for tomorrow. The weather report predicts freezing rain, and unnecessary driving is not recommended. Tomorrow's hike to Bolton is canceled. It sounds like a lot of fun, so we will get it back into the schedule, later in the season.

Monday March 19: We are working on our Spring 2018 schedule. We have most of April filled in, and we are looking for hike leaders. We will set up membership over the next week or so. It is not yet possible to sign up.
Friday December 15: Our 2017 hiking season is done. Thank you everyone for coming out hiking, especially our volunteers. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. You will hear from us next March.

This event is of Level 1 difficulty, so if you have not hiked before, today is the day. Let's hope it does not rain.
Saturday July 22: Due to probable rain, we have cancelled our Niagara Excursion, We will try to reschedule this thing.
Wednesday July 19: We have a July event! This Saturday, check out our Niagara Excursion, with Jennifer Rowobotham. This is a gentle, Level 1 hike. We will beat the traffic by starting early at Old York Mills Road, 9:00am.
Thursday June 22: Upcoming is the last sceduled hike of our spring season. We are doing Mono Cliffs with hike leader Alan Backlund. We will do our regular 10:00am pickup at Old York Mills Road. Keep an eye on this website. We hope to run something sometime over the summer!
Wednesday June 14: We are hiking a long way from Toronto again, this time, to wine country. The day will be Saturday again. The hike is Jordan and Ball's Falls with Jennifer Rowobotham. You can come home late on Saturday. You will have all of Sunday to recover from hiking with bottles of wine in your backpack.
Tuesday June 7: This weekend we are back to Sunday hiking at Forks of the Credit with Andy Hueton. We are also back to a 10:00am departure from Old York Mills Road,

Tuesday April 19: Sunday, we are doing an end-to-end hike of Seaton Trail with hike leader Bohdan Bilyj. Drivers, if you can make to Old York Mills Road, we would appreciate if you did so. We don't want to leave people behind.
Tuesday April 12: This Thursday, April 14 is High Park Ski Club's FITS Night. Having gotten that under our belts, we will be hiking Sunday at Alton Grange with Howard Gibson.

Monday March 28: We are working on our 2016 Schedule. Our first hike is Sunday, April 3, to Rouge Valley with hike leader Jacquie. We will be at High Park Ski Club's FITS Night. We have reviewed out costs, and we have reduced our membership fee!

Wednesday November 18: We have a hike for this coming Sunday, Humber Valley Heritage Trail. with hike leader Howard. There has been all sorts of construction going on along the trail, but it seems to have been sorted out.
Thursday November 12: Sunday, we hike Grindstone Falls with Andrea. The hike will be twelve to fourteen kilometers, and we pick up at Old York Mills Road, as usual.
Wednesday November 4: On Sunday, we are visiting Alton Grange, the nice, big hill at the end of the Grand Valley Trail, and Alton Mill Gallery, with hike leader Howard.

Wednesday May 21: Our next is another Saturday hike, this time to Niagara Gorge with Bob Freeman. This hike is fairly short and the pace will be slow, but given the rocks, and the long climb out of the gorge, this should regarded as Level 3 difficulty.
Wednesday May 14: Our upcoming hike is at the end of a long drive, so we are hiking on Saturday. This will be a car shuffle from Osler to Singhampton. This hike has lots of hills, and we are going through Singhampton Caves. This hike is not recommended for beginners.
Wednesday May 7: On Sunday, we are hiking Forks of the Credit, with Jennifer Rowbotham.
Tuesday April 29: This coming weekend, our group will be going out on Saturday. Rather than having a hike, we will be helping the Caledon Hills part of the Bruce Trail with trail maintenance. Bring sturdy working gloves. Practice feeling smug for when we lead a hike through this place.

We have just updated the instructions to show a somewhat longer hike than originally promised.
Wednesday April 17: This Sunday's hike is to Humber Valley Heritage Trial. This will a new section between Bolton and Kleinburg that we have not hiked before. We will be at High Park Ski Club's Fun In The Sun night at the Lithuanian Hall, Wednesday April 24 at 7:30pm, 1573 Bloor West, Toronto. This is on the south of Bloor, a couple of blocks west of the Dundas subway.
Friday April 12: Sunday's Seven Waterfalls hike is on! We have checked out the parking lots at each end of the hike, and we have updated the instructions. Both parking lots are fairly small, and we will be charged for using them. Definitely, this is a day for car pooling.
Tuesday April 9: Our hike this coming Sunday is to Seven Waterfalls in Dundas Valley. Hike leader Bill Baird is not available, but we will work something out. The hike definitely is on!

Wednesday March 28: This coming Sunday, we are kicking off our 2012 hiking at Mountsberg Conservation Area where it is Maple Syrup time. There will be pancakes. You don't need to pack a lunch, unless you don't like pancakes. Thank you Deborah McDermott.
Sunday March 11: Spring is on us faster that us ski types planned on. We are starting work on our schedule. We are not planning any official hikes prior to April, but there could be some unofficial ones to scout out trails. If you are determined to hike, and you do not mind the hike leader being lost and confused, email Howard Gibson and I will see what I can do about it.
Friday December 2: The weather reports for Sunday mostly indicate rain. We have decided to cancel Sunday's hike to Dundas Valley. This concludes our 2011 hiking season. Hopefully, we will see you all next spring. If it does not snow or rain over the next few weeks, leave us a message and perhaps we can work something out.
Tuesday November 29: A few determined hikers showed in the rain for Scotsdale Farm last week. Let's hope the weather improves this time. We are coming to our final hike of 2011. We are going to Dundas Valley with Bob Freeman.
Thursday November 24: Sunday's hike still is to Scotsdale Farm with Deborah McDermott, and we are still picking up at Yonge and York Mills, Apparently, someone asked hike leader Jacquie Johnson about birds at Rouge River. Someone runs an event called Hoot and Howl in which they search for owls and coyotes at night. You can search Google for more dates, and for contact information.
Wednesday November 23: Our next hike is on Sunday, and it is to Scotsdale Farm with Deborah McDermott.
Wednesday November 16: This coming Sunday, we are hiking Primrose Boyne River with Howard Gibson. Finally, we have filled in our schedule up to December 4. Thank you Deborah McDermott and Bob Freeman.
Tuesday November 8: We are filling some critical parts of our fall schedule, including next Sunday's hike. Jackie Johnson will take us hiking through Rouge Valley. This is a new, more challenging route than what we have done before. We should have November 27 filled in in a day or two.
Wednesday November 2: This weekend's hike is on Saturday, to Woodend Conservation Area with Bill Baird. Since it is Saturday, we can stay late, visit a winery, and check out the Niagara Festival of Lights, after dinner.
Wednesday October 26: This Sunday's hike is to Humber Valley Heritage Trail with Howard Gibson.
Tuesday October 18: It has been a while since we have hiked at Seaton Trails. This Sunday! Thank you Andrea Moses.
Saturday October 15: Sunday's hike is to Hockley Valley North with hike leader Ian Tytler.

Saturday September 17: Sunday's hike still is to Maple Valley with Jim Thomas. The Yonge Subway line will be shut down between Bloor and Eglinton this weekend. This will be replaced by bus service. Please allow extra time to reach Yonge and York Mills,

Wednesday September 7: We are still working on our schedule. We start this Sunday with an easy hike at Mount Nemo.
Thursday September 1: Our first hike for Fall 2011 will be next weekend, Sunday September 11, to Mount Nemo.
Tuesday August 23: We are starting work on our Fall 2011 schedule. Our first hike of the fall probably will be on Sunday September 11.
Tuesday August 9: This coming Saturday August 13 is our long hike to Petroglyphs park. Soon, we will start working on our fall schedule. Keep watching this space.
Tuesday June 28: Our spring hiking is over. Our next official event is Petroglyphs on August 15. Meanwhile, I plan on exploring a couple of new hikes. I plan to take the coming July 1 weekend off. On the subsequent weekend, if you want to hike, and you do not mind the hike leader being lost, you can click on Howard Gibson and we can sort something out.
Tuesday June 21: Our last scheduled hike of the season is Sunday, June 26, with a hike to Cheltenham Badlands with hike leader Robert Freeman. We still have scheduled a day trip to Petroglyphs, north of Peterborough. Webmaster Howard Gibson is planning to scout out some potential new hikes over the next couple of weeks, so if you still want to get out and hike, click on the webmaster link, below, and leave a message.

Tuesday June 7: On Sunday, we are hiking at Waterdown East with leader Bill Baird. We will meet at Yonge and York Mills at the usual time.
Wednesday June 1: This weekend, we are hiking Pretty River, with leader Andrea Moses. This is a long drive, so we are doing it on Saturday. We can linger up there an have fun.
Wednesday May 25: This coming Sunday is our city, Doors Open hike with Andria Hourwich. We will not be meeting at Yonge and York Mills. Please read our directions. We have changed the date for next weekend's hike to Pretty River. It is a long way to Singhampton. On Saturday, we can take our time, and have fun.
Monday May 16: For this coming weekend, we have changed our destination. Jim Thomas is still our leader. It is still on Monday, because it is a long weekend. We are now doing Glen Haffy South.
Saturday May 14: As of 8:30pm this evening, it is raining. It has been raining most of the day. Gerry Dombrowe and I have discusse this, and we have decided that it is too wet to hike safety on the escarpment. Our Sunday May 15 hike to Rattlesnake Point is canceled. Hopefully, we will get better weather next week.
Wednesday May 11: This Sunday's hike is to Rattlesnake Point with Gerry Dombrower.
Wednesday May 4: Sunday is Mother's day, so we are hiking on Saturday. For once, it looks like the weather is going to cooperate with us. This weekend, it will rain on Sunday. Saturday's hike is to Niagara Gorge with Robert Freeman.
Tuesday April 26: However nasty people thought the weather would be last week, a bunch of people showed up for Alton, and we spent most of the day in sunshine. Your next chance at a nice hike is this coming Sunday, at Scotsdale Farm with Ian Tytler.
Wednesday April 20: This coming Thursday, April 21 is Fun In The Sun Night, held by the High Park Ski Club's at the Lithuanian Hall at 1573 Bloor Street West. This is on the south side of the street, a couple of blocks west of the Dundas West subway station. Since this is Easter weekend, a lot of people will be busy on Sunday. We will hike Saturday, to Alton Grange with hike leader Howard Gibson.
Tuesday April 12: We had a nice group out last Sunday in spite of the threatening weather. Now for some serious hiking. Bill Baird's hike this coming Sunday is Seven Waterfalls in the Dundas Valley area.
Wednesday April 06: This Sunday's trip is to Mount Nemo led by Howard Gibson.
Tuesday March 29: Hiking season is back! This Sunday, Jim Thomas is taking us to Speyside. We will be meeting at Yonge and York Mills. Look for us at Hall for High Park Ski Club's Fun In The Sun Night.
Wednesday March 16: Hiking season is getting closer. We start the new hiking season at Speyside with hike leader Jim Thomas. On Thursday, April 21, 2011, we will be at the Lithuanian Hall for High Park Ski Club's Fun In The Sun Night.
Tuesday February 23: We are just starting up our schedule for Spring 2011. Our first hike probably will be on Sunday, April 3. The first item to appear on our schedule is a Dundas Waterfalls hike on Sunday, April 17, thanks to Bill Baird.

Tuesday November 9: This Sunday's hike is to Humber Valley Heritage Trail with Howard Gibson. We will use our regular Sunday pickup at Yonge and York Mills, at 10:00am.
Saturday November 6: Don't forget to roll your clocks back Saturday night. Otherwise, you will have a long wait at Yonge and York Mills for our hike to Rouge Valley.
Tuesday November 2: This coming Sunday is our hike to Rouge Valley with Andria Hourwich. Since this is Sunday, we are back to picking up at Yonge and York Mills. Since Rouge Valley is very close, we are picking up at 10:30am.
Tuesday October 26: This weekend's hike is on Saturday. We are doing our Jordan Wine Tour. Your hike leader will be webmaster Howard Gibson. This is a rather long drive, and you want to be home on Sunday anyway, to greet tricker treaters. Since parking is difficult at Yonge and York Mills on Saturday, we are going to pickup at Wilson Station.
Wednesday October 20: This coming Sunday, we are hiking east of the city at Seaton Trail with Cathy MacDougall. We continue to carpool from Yonge and York Mills.
Tuesday October 11: Our next hike is on Sunday, and it is to Rattlesnake Point with Gerry Dombrower. We are carpooling from Yonge and York Mills.
Tuesday October 05: For Thanksgiving weekend, we are hiking on the Monday. Our destination is Terra Cotta, and our leader is Jim Thomas. We still are carpooling from Yonge and York Mills.
Tuesday September 28: This coming weekend's hiking is on Saturday, not Sunday. It is a long drive to Niagara Gorge, but well worth it. The scenery down there is spectacular. The leader is Bill Baird. Yonge and York Mills still is our pickup point.
Wednesday September 22: This Saturday is the Hiking Biking party we share with Toronto High Park Bicycle Club. We hope to see you at the Rose and Crown, 2335 Yonge Street at 8:00pm. We even have a live rock band. Sunday's hike is to Pretty River with Andrea Moses. This is a long drive, but the fall colours should be starting out up there. You do not want to miss it. The area is very hilly, but the pace will be gentle, suitable for the day after a party. We are contining to pick up at Yonge and York Mills.
Tuesday September 14: This Sunday's will will be to Chelteham Badlands, led by Bob Freeman. We are still picking up at Yonge and York Mills.
Tuesday September 7: We are filling in the schedule. This Sundays hike is to Forks of the Credit, led by Howard Gibson. Yes, we are climbing Devil's Pulpit!
Monday September 6: We are still working on the schedule. Next weekend's hike is to Forks of the Credit with Howard Gibson. Make a note in your calendar for the hiking biking party, Saturday September 25 at the Rose and Crown.
Thursday September 2: We are still picking up at Yonge and York Mills. We are watching what is happening with the TTC parking lot there. This Sunday's hike is to Maple Valley, with Jim Thomas.
Sunday August 28: We are working on a Fall schedule. We have scheduled the first two hikes. We will start our season at Maple Valley, this coming Sunday.
Monday July 19: High Park Ski Club is running a Hike/Bike/Golf Lunch. Non-members are welcome, and the hiking club is helping out.
Friday June 25: This Saturday is our last hike of the season, to Pretty River, with Andrea Moses. We are watching the weather, as it is likely to rain tomorrow. We recommend everybody shows up at Yonge and York Mills. We will then decide what to do based on the latest information. We have been very lucky so far this season, running hikes in threatening weather.
Wednesday June 16: This Sunday's destiation is Durham Forest, with Cathy MacDougall. We have our destination worked out for the last weekend of June. The trip is on Saturday June 26, and it is to Pretty River, led by Andrea Moses.
Sunday June 13: Five hardy hikers showed up at Yonge and York Mills. We decided to hike. We hiked, and it did not rain! We have a destination and a leader for next Sunday. It is Durham Forest, and our hike leader is Cathy MacDougall.
Friday June 11 10:00pm: Saturday's hike to Hoggs and Eugenia Falls, is tentatively canceled due to the predicted thunderstorms. A couple of us will show up at Yonge and York Mills just in case the weather improves. At this time, we strongly recommend not driving straight up to the hike.
Monday June 07: Once again, the weather worked out for the brave souls who showed up for the Cheltonham hike. Next week, we hike on Saturday, all the way up to Hoggs and Eugenia Falls, with leader Alan Backlund.
Thursday June 03: This Sunday's hike is to Cheltenham Badlands with hike leader Bob Freeman. Let's hope the weather holds out.
Tuesday May 25: We have worked out our city hike for this coming Sunday. We are hiking in the Don Valley, and checking out a few Doors Open locations, with leader Andria Hourwich.
Friday May 21: For the coming Victoria Day weekend, we are hiking on Monday. The destination is Hockley Valley, with Jim Thomas. This will be on the south side of the valley, so read the driving instructions carefully.
Friday May 14: This Saturday is the biking, hiking Spring Party at the Sports Café. On Sunday, we are hiking to Dundas Valley with Jennifer Rowbotham, and, finally, with predicted sunshine.
Friday May 7: This coming Sunday is Mother's Day, so we are hiking on Saturday. Our last two hikes have been on days predicted to be rainy, and so far, we have not been rained on. Let's see if Bill Baird can keep this up at Royal Botanical Gardens. Next week is the Spring Party at the Sports Cafe at Yonge and Saint Clair.
Friday April 30: In spite of the nasty weather forecasts last week, we had a bunch of hikers out for Kilgorie Pine River. There was not a drop of rain. This week, we are hiking at Speyside with Ian Tytler. The weather reports are not promising, so bring something waterproof. These things work out.
Friday April 23: We appreciate all of you who came out on FITS night. We are hiking at Kilgorie Pine River, just north of last week's hike. The hike leader is Howard Gibson.
Wednesday April 14: Lots happening this week. We hope to see you Thursday evening for High Park Ski Club's Fun In The Summer Night. We are ready to sign up new members. We have schedules. We even have an excellent hike for next weekend -- Primrose Boyne River with hike leader Jim Thomas. There is yet another High Park Ski Club event you may be interested in, The Montreal Jazz Festival This event is run by HPSC, but it is open to non-members.
Thursday April 8: This Sunday is our first hike of the season, to Alton. We are not yet ready to sign up new members. We will be set up for this next Thursday at High Park Ski Club's Fun In The Summer Night. As usual, we will be carpooling at Yonge and York Mills at 10:00am Sunday. We look forward to seeing you!

Saturday March 20: We are getting ready for High Park Ski Club's Fun In The Summer Night. The event will be held at the Lithuanian Hall, at 1573 Bloor Street West, on Thursday night, April 15. We will be there along with a whole bunch of other clubs, so sign up members and hand out schedules.
Tuesday December 15: Our 2009 season is over. Thank you everyone who showed up to hike. Thank you to our hike leaders, and thank you to Ron Kwan, our outgoing president. We will see you next next April. We will be signing up new members at High Park Ski Club's FITS Night 2010Apr15.
Wednesday November 25: Good news! The hiking season is not over yet. Jim Thomas has offered to lead a hike this Sunday at Glen Haffy.
Thursday November 19: We are now approaching our last scheduled hike of the season. We are going to Crawford Lake, and our leader is Gerry Dombrower. Keep an eye on this space. We may have something for next weekend.

Wednesday September 23: This coming Sunday, you can sleep in half and hour. We plan to leave Yonge and York Mills at 10:30 am, to head for Rouge Valley in east Scarborough, not a very long trip.
Wednesday September 16: This Sunday's hike (September 20) now is to Alton with webmaster Howard Gibson. This time, the weather should be good. Next Sunday, we are going to Rouge Valley, with Andria Hourwich. This is not a picnic hike, so we do not need to hang around the parking lot. We should see some new stuff this time.
Thursday September 3: This website has a new look! The navigation has been improved a bit, and, hopefully, it looks a little better. Also, we have started our Fall Schedule. Our first hike will be on Sunday September 13.
Sunday July 12: Jennifer Rowbotham has volunteered to lead a hike to Webster's Falls. That, probably, will conclude our hiking season until the fall. Keep an eye on this website, just in case.
